Double Offset Butterfly Valve

Double Offset Butterfly Valve is designed for higher pressure and temperature applications where tight shut-off and longer seat life are required. The double offset disc design reduces seat friction during operation, making it suitable for demanding industrial services.

Double Flanged Butterfly Valve

Double Offset Butterfly VALVE

High Performance Butterfly Valves | Class 150 / 300 / 600 | DN 80–1200

MNC Valves MNC Valves is a Manufacturer of Double Offset Butterfly Valve in India, manufacturing high- performance butterfly valves designed for higher pressure, higher temperature, and more demanding industrial applications.

Double offset butterfly valves are engineered to reduce seat wear, minimize operating torque, and provide reliable shut-off performance in process industries.

These valves are widely used in oil & gas, petrochemical plants, power stations, and industrial processing systems.

MANUFACTURING STANDARDS

  • API 609 – Category B (High Performance Butterfly Valve)
  • MSS SP-68 – High Performance Butterfly Valves
  • ASME B16.34 – Pressure-Temperature Ratings
  • ASME B16.5 – Flanged Ends
  • API 598 – Inspection & Testing
  • Face-to-face as per:

  • API 609
  • EN 558 (Where applicable)

PRODUCT DESIGN OVERVIEW

Double offset butterfly valves differ from concentric valves in shaft and disc positioning.

Two offsets are provided:

  1. Shaft is offset from disc centerline
  2. Shaft is offset from body centerline

This geometry provides:

  • Reduced seat friction
  • Lower torque operation
  • Improved seat life
  • Suitable for higher pressure service
  • Improved sealing performance

SIZE & PRESSURE RANGE

  • Size Range: DN 80 mm to DN 1200 mm
  • Pressure Class: 150 / 300 / 600
  • PN16 / PN25 / PN40 (Where applicable)
  • Temperature: Higher than resilient seated concentric valves

Double offset valves are suitable for medium to high pressure industrial service.

OPERATING PRINCIPLE – DOUBLE OFFSET DESIGN

In double offset geometry:

The disc lifts off the seat immediately upon opening.

This reduces rubbing contact between disc and seat, which:

  • Minimizes seat wear
  • Reduces operating torque
  • Extends valve service life

Unlike concentric valves, seat contact occurs only at final closing position.

APPLICATIONS

  • Oil & Gas Industry
  • Petrochemical Plants
  • Power Generation
  • High Temperature Water Systems
  • Industrial Steam Service
  • Process Plants

DOUBLE OFFSET VS CONCENTRIC – ENGINEERING COMPARISON

Feature Concentric Double Offset
Seat Contact Continuous Contact only at closure
Pressure Range Low-Medium Medium-High
Temperature Limited by elastomer Higher capability
Seat Wear Higher Lower
Torque Moderate Lower

Double offset valves are preferred where higher performance and longer seat life are required.

AUTOMATION COMPATIBILITY

Available with:

  • β€’ Pneumatic actuator
  • β€’ Electric actuator
  • β€’ Gear Operator

Widely used in automated industrial process control systems.
